Bernard Tomic admits feigning injury and being ‘bored’ during first-round Wimbledon loss
PAT Cash is among tennis greats to lash Bernard Tomic after the young Aussie voiced his lack of motivation with the sport following his round-one exit overnight.
In an extraordinary interview, Tomic admitted being bored and “mentally not there” after a vapid first-round Wimbledon loss.

And Cash, himself a former winner at the All-England club, said the gifted Aussie has had it too good.
“I don’t want to stick the boot in, but it wasn’t a great day,” Cash told the BBC.
“He needs to go and work in a factory, and do some labour, and see what it’s like to really work out there.
“I mean he’s too rich, too early.”
Tomic crashed out in straight sets to No. 27 seed Mischa Zverev, with the German cruising to a 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 win. His defeat came after Nick Kyrgios pulled out through injury on the opening day.
In a candid and brutal self-appraisal, Tomic said despite his current funk he hoped to continue playing.
“My main focus is to play as much as I can until (I’m) 32, 33 and after that, you know, enjoy life,” he told Fox Sports.

“That’s it, and not have to work again.”
Earlier, in his post-match press conference, he revealed the injury time-out he sought was purely tactical and pondered whether he would ever muster the motivation to fulfil his talent.
And he said he did not respect the sport enough — but stopped short of saying he could ever change his ways.
“This is my eighth Wimbledon or ninth, I think. I’m still 24, and it’s tough to find motivation, you know,” he said.
“Really, me being out there on the court, to be honest with you, I just couldn’t find any motivation.
